From the pictures and posts I’m seeing on social media this weekend, looks like I’m not alone in my intent to start this year with a healthy bang in the kitchen. While I consider myself a pretty healthy eater most of the time, I fell prey to the holiday sweets and drinks and am now looking to get back on track!

I’m actually starting a 30 day “body reset” cleanse, challenge, diet…..or whatever you want to call it TODAY. I hate to even call it any of those above because I’m still eating really well- just cutting out the acidic, inflammatory, and allergenic foods. (Bye-bye coffee and wine…..)I’ve done this reset before and it’s really good for my body. I don’t do it for weight loss. For me it’s more about sleeping better and recalibrating my body. It won’t change the recipes I’m sharing here on the blog- I will always be an advocate for “eating pretty good, most of the time” so don’t worry on that front!

My kids are big smoothie fans. During the fall we we’re on a smoothie kick and I was making them every single morning before school. It was such a solid way to start the day and both my boys were super into it. But then the weather changed and our bodies were craving more warming foods we stopped for a bit. Just before the holidays it seemed like everyone around us was getting sick so we started back up. Smoothies are the perfect vehicle for getting lots of vitamins and immune boosters in the kids.

This Dragonfruit smoothie quickly became a favorite. It’s hard not to love- just look at the color- but it’s also loaded with vitamin C and the taste is citrusy, creamy, and damn good! I’m sharing the basic recipe with you guys below but wanted to let you know that I always add a few extras to our smoothies to boost the nutrient content. My regular add-in’s are 1-2 scoop(s) of collagen powder, a handful of hemp seeds, a handful of bee-pollen, and sometimes a tablespoon of coconut oil. You can’t really taste any of the extras but love the added protein, fat, nutrients!

I won’t be enjoy this smoothie this month as I’m not doing dairy right now but you can believe that come February, I’ll be ALL over this. For the time being, my kids will be having my share!! Happy New Year and have a great week!! xo, Kelley

Dragonfruit Smoothie

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2-4 smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (I like coconut-almond blend)
  • 5 oz yogurt (I LOVE the new orange blend from Chobani)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1 pack frozen dragonfruit

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in the blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy. Divide into 2-4 cups, add a straw, and go to town!

Notes

*Use a frozen banana if you want the smoothie extra cold and creamy. *Chobani starting making a whole milk orange flavor that I adore!
