Minted Giveaway | mountainmamacooks.com #minted #giveaway

Notebooks for grocery list making, recipes, editorial calendar and thoughts.

As a blogger and someone who spends a majority of my time online and does the majority of my work in front of a screen, I relish the opportunity to go offline and distance myself from the digital world. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the impersonal nature of the internet. While I’ve made my living doing just that, I always have been (and always will be) a person that does better in real life, face to face. What can I say, I’m a talker.

Minted Giveaway | mountainmamacooks.com #minted #giveaway

Personalized thank you cards.

There so much more value in making an actual phone call or better yet, dropping by a friends house to have coffee and catch up in real life than “checking in” on Facebook or sending a text. I have a love-hate relationship with Evites. I can appreciate the convenience and time saving efforts in sending a quick digital invitation- but, but, but… they’re so just impersonal. I could keep going with examples- apps to write your grocery list, calendars that sink between your phone, iPad, computer, tablet and whatever else you have. And when did sending emails to share your condolences, say thank you or congratulations become ok? For the record, it’s not ok. Sit down and spend 5 minutes hand writing a letter- a little goes a long way.

Special wrapping paper from Santa.

So you want to know a little something about me? I’m addicted to paper. I send thank you notes and cards for no reason. I have a bazillion notebooks where I write anything and everything down. My phone doesn’t sink with anything. I have an old school paper calendar that is the life force of our family and I have special notebooks dedicated to my editorial calendar, creating recipes, for making my grocery lists and one that holds phone numbers and addresses- you never know when you’re phone is going to break. I even have an old snowboard boot box filled with personalized and pretty stationary that makes me giddy every time I look through it.

  13. Susan P. says:

I use a journal for notes when we are on road trips and make lists on scraps of paper to remember what I have to do. Writing it down helps me remember even if I don’t look at the list later (or forget to bring it with me).

  14. Colleen Boudreau says:

    I send texts to myself.

  15. Calie says:

I keep a little note pad in my purse for random ideas and a journal at home for more put together thoughts. At times I do use the notepad app on my phone, but I tend to transfer the winners to paper as soon as I can.

I have a nice little note pad I keep in my purse for leaving notes on people’s cars to surprise them when I see them parked….we have a small town and so far they seem to enjoy it!

  27. Jaqui T says:

I have note pads everywhere! One on my desk at work, one in my purse, one on my nightstand and at least one floating around my kitchen/living room. And I always hand write my grocery lists twice. Once to get all of the things I need written down and again to organize them by my path through the store. Between writing it twice and visualizing my trip I can typically remember everything even when I forget my list (which happens more often than it should…)

  28. Andrea E. says:

I love smaller journals – with lines- and using fun pens. I am a child at heart!

  29. Brittany F says:

  33. Heather says:

A dry erase shopping list inside the pantry (transferred to paper list when shopping,) a catch-all list pad on the kitchen counter, post-it notes by the computer. I remember more when I have physically lettered the note with my muscles, LOL!

  34. Moleskin all the way for me. They’ve served as recipe recepticals, idea boards, travel journals and a spot for musings… Love them. I will have to check out minted now as well.

I love spiral notebooks too! If I don’t have my notebook with me, things get written down on random pieces of paper which end up all over my car, or in my jean pockets and in the laundry πŸ™ The only things I do digital are my shopping lists, since we have an app that the whole family can access.

  41. Jessica says:

I take notes on my iphone throughout the day and then transfer them into a notebook that I keep by my bed at the end of the day. This helps me keep track of important things I want to remember (friend’s birthdays, new restaurants/stores I want to visit, etc) as well as ensures I’m not forgetting anything on my weekly “To Do” list!

  42. itzia says:

    i use post-its

  43. Julie says:

I LOVE notebooks! My friend gave me a great idea for a gift last Christmas. She said her husband’s grandmother kept a journal throughout the year, and each Christmas she wrapped the journal and gave it to someone in the family. I decided to start this tradition with my mom, and I gave her a journal last year. I’m hoping she will wrap it and give it to someone this Christmas! I am going to give my husband and each of my kids journals this year, and we’ll see what happens. I’m also hoping to start a family journal, where one of us writes, then we pass it along to another person in the family. We’ll let the journal circle the family for the year, and it will be a great keepsake at the end of the year!

  44. Lauren J. says:

I have a journal for myself and keep Word documents for each of my kids to read someday when they get older (so I can easily include digital pictures).

  45. Sally V says:

Kelley…this is one of my favorites of things you have blogged. It is so refreshing to know that a “young” person is still loving the snail mail form of communication and grows weary of the “inpersonalness” of cell phones and computers. Hats off to you! I also love Paper…including the books I read. Kindles are not for me! I have a journal in which I have written down every book I’ve read in the past 30 years. Ironically, i don’t have that in my computer….hopefully, I don’t ever lose the journal. As I am growing older and more forgetful, it is a wonderful resource to tell me if I have already read a particular book!

  47. Lea Anna says:

I do lots and lots of lists!

  49. Alicia says:

I have a small notebook that I keep with me at all times. Every morning before starting my day, I write down my goals of the day and make sure they are realistic. Then throughout the day, I strike them off and find huge satisfaction in doing that.

  50. Alison H. says:

I make lists that I keep on the fridge…it’s the only way I can remember things lol!

  51. Sandie says:

Thank so much for hosting this giveaway, I hope I win to be able to get some awesome Mother’s Day gift for my family!

  52. I have sticky notes all over my “recipe” book, as I’m scratching out one thing and changing the next to make the recipe just right. I really need a better system…they fall out and I’m always losing them!

I love using pretty paper to write things down, and of course I always use my favorite pen!

  54. Cora says:

I love paper. I have my travel notebook, as we see things on the road, I write them down. When we get to our destination we look up the places we put down and decide where we want to stop on the way home. I write what we saw on which day so we can match memories with pictures. I have stacks of notepads and notebooks, I love lists.

  55. Nora B says:

A dry erase board on the fridge!

  56. I have a notebook that my aunt gives me that I use for my daily to-do list. One page for every day. Write the items to do in black, cross out in red. Split into work and personal lists! Love Minted – used them for a bunch of our wedding stationery!

  57. Emily Ballantyne says:

The Paper Source is one of my favorites! I keep notebooks scattered around the house and a full box of notecards with me in my apartment. My friends tease me light-heartedly about it, but know how much handwritten means to me: not-so-rich college students, they organized for everyone to write me a card for my birthday this past year. One of the best birthday surprises I’ve had!

I have my favorite pens and a notebook of some sort in every room as well as my purse. I’m always thinking of something new to try and if I don’t write it down, I won’t remember! My 10 yr old loves writing things down too, she asked for a diary this year.. with a great pen of course. I love the paper.. but the pen is just as important to me!
