My favorite fall drink made even easier thanks to the slow cooker. Slow Cooker Mulled Wine made with cranberry-pomegrante juice, fresh orange zest and honey. Your house will smell amazing and this perfect-to-serve-a-crowd drink is down right delicious.

This mulled wine should come with a warning sign. Something to the effect of this isn’t punch even though it tastes like it. Or maybe, this will sneak up on you if you’re not careful. Or imbibe carefully or you’ll quickly find yourself tipsy and repeating that completely inappropriate story about your former boss.
Huh?
No way. That wasn’t me.

This stuff is good. Lethally good. And I’m not kidding when I say that it will sneak up on you if you’re not careful. I’m not a huge drinker and I find it all too easy to knock a few mugs of this back with no effort at all. It’s not too sweet and just sweet enough. It’s warm and cozy with just the right amount of spice. I challenge anyone to say no thank you when offered some. Sweetened with honey and scented with cinnamon, cloves and star anise, this mulled cider is the quintessential fall drink. And so freaking good.

We celebrated my sons 8th birthday last week by renting a hotel room just up the street and gathering a small group of friends and and family to spend an evening swimming, eating, and drinking. It was a busy few days leading up the party and I didn’t have a ton of time to stress over the eats and drinks. I knew it wasn’t going to be a heavy drinking kind of party but I still wanted to serving a little something. I wanted something seasonal and warm that we could sip while the kiddos played in the pool. Side note: kids are crazy tough. It was a pretty chilly night and they swam like little fishies oblivious to the cool air while the mamas shivered on the chairs trying to stay warm. Just another reason why warm wine on a fall night is a good idea.

Have slow cooker, will travel should be the slogan for this mulled cider. I heated the cider up at home before taking it up to the hotel where the slow cooker also doubled as a serving bowl. Being able to plug the slow cooker in anywhere makes it super versatile and a necessary appliance in my kitchen. And as long as I’m singing the slow cookers praise let’s bust out a few more highlights, shall we? Slow cookers can beso much more than just vessels for slow cooking pot roasts and chills. They’re easy clean up and I’m all about the one pot dinner method these days. It’s the truth when I tell you it’s the kitchen top appliance I use most.
