Park City Springtime

I think I say this about every season but I really love spring in the mountains. It is so darn beautiful in Park City right now. But then again, Park City is beautiful year round. And I’m not the only one that thinks so. Outside Magazine has picked Park City as one of the best towns EVER. Along with nine other cities, Park City has been picked as one of the best places to live ever. I know I might be biased but I couldn’t agree more. I wouldn’t live anywhere else. If your interested, you can check out Outside Magazine’s Facebook page to see what other cities have been nominated and vote for your favorite place to live!

Ski towns bloom late but when the mountain flowers come out they do so in full force. The hiking has been absolutely spectacular the past few weeks. The mountains are covered with yellow and purple flowers and because it’s not too hot yet, the hiking conditions are prime. I’ve been trying to get out as much as I can taking my workouts outdoors. The trails are in great shape and with the snow capped mountains you couldn’t ask for a better backdrop.

With so many hikes to choose from, I tend to stick to the same 2 or 3. I like what I like I guess. A creature of habit if you will. I can honestly say that the beauty of where I live is never lost on me. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t marvel at the place I’m lucky to call home. Another bonus to living in a community that is as active as Park City, it’s never difficult to find someone to hike with. My best hiking partner though is still my four legged gal. She was, is and always be my best gal when it comes to hitting the trails. She is always up for an outdoor adventure.

I said it on Instagram the other day but a good sweat and being outdoors always makes me feel better. A little wind to the face is the perfect antidote to a bad day. I’m a firm believer in exercise as medicine. And not just physically. Getting a daily sweat is imperative to my mental wellbeing. I try to do something every day and when it’s this nice outdoors, I try to get outside as much as I can. After a long winter of hibernating, my body craves a heavy duty dose of Vitamin D. And so do my pasty white gams.

A few days ago my dear friend, Liza, came over and she helped me plant my garden. I’m keeping things simple this year and growing mostly greens, some onions, carrots and radishes. I really want to grow tomatoes but I’m 0 for 2 the past few seasons. Any high altitude gardeners out there have any advice? I’m thinking of buying some EarthBoxes and trying those. Has anyone ever used them? I’m bound and determined to be a successful at growing tomatoes. BOUND AND DETERMINED I tell you.

Hope everyone has a great long weekend. We’ll be staying close to home, cleaning out the garage, doing some spring cleaning and hopefully tackling some yard work. See you back here next week!
