I’m starting a new feature on the blog, Out of the Kitchen. While this is and always will be a place for me to share my creations in the kitchen, there is so much more to Mountain Mama (me) than just cooking! I’m a mom, an athlete, a friend, and wife. I love to read, travel, spend as much time outdoors as possible and when I’m really burned out, I like to pass the responsibility of cooking onto one the fabulous restaurants that Park City has to offer. This will be my way to share with you a little more of myself, what I’m currently digging on and most notably, what’s not cooking in my kitchen. Sit back and enjoy!

Yesterday morning I watched the sun rise on my snowboard atop a mountain at my favorite ski resort. Skiing perfectly groomed, soft snow before the mountain opened to the public was an absolute treat. I got to share the experience with a group ripping ladies. Two Olympians, multiple local outdoor writers, the best of Canyons PR and, I gathered for a morning of skiing and breakfast. Canyons First Tracks offers intermediate and above skiers a chance to have a guided tour of the mountain before the resort opens to the public on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. The season might be almost over but if you’re planing a trip to Park City and Canyons Resort next year, start planning!

  • Albion Fit

albion fit

A known fact: I live in workout clothes. Between tennis, snowboarding, soccer and whatever else is on my agenda for the day, it’s rare you don’t find me in some sort of spandex or nylon. What I can say? I like comfy clothes and wear them all day long. (Covered with an apron, no less!) I’m super excited to partner up with a local activewear company, Albion Fit. They make the most adorable sportswear and swimsuits. Albion fit is opening their flagship store this coming week in Salt Lake. On Monday, April 1st from 11am to 2pm, Albion Fit is hosting a special event to celebrate. They’d like to invite all of you to come too! All attendees will enjoy a free Albion Fit headband while supplies last, access to Albion’s newest collections not yet unveiled on the website, and $20 Off any swimsuit or $20 off any fitness top/bottom combo. All you need to do is tell them Mountain Mama Cooks sent you when you check out! With each purchase, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win some fantastic prizes! The store is located on the upper level of City Creek Center. I’d love to see you there so stop on by and say hi! • 21 Day Sugar Detox

THE-21-DAY-SUGAR-detox

I started a 21 day sugar detox a few days ago. I don’t think I’ve ever gone without some form of sugar for 6 hours let alone 21 days. Good thing I can eat all the bacon and butter I want. It’s an experiment of sorts. Trying to reset my body and hoping this will be the ticket. I’ll be sure to keep you posted! Have a great day!!

I was just thinking about sharing half a danish with my coworker, when I scrolled down and read the 21 day sugar detox. So much for the danish. Thanks for saving me…Keep us posted…..Enjoyed the new feature “Out of the Kitchen”. Love the snow, can’t ski…We have had snow every day this week. Our Baseball Home Opener (Pgh Pirates) is Monday. Brrrr.. More like football weather…Have a great weekend.
