I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours couldn’t have been more perfect. With two little ones, the magic was alive and well in our house. We kept things small with just a few presents each and I’m so glad that is the route we chose to took. The kids actually played with and enjoyed the few things they got and it wasn’t overshadowed with a bunch of stuff. My husband gave me the greatest gift(s) of all. He wrote me a love letter (I know, I know) and it was the sweetest thing. It was worth more than any gift he could have bought and my heart was so full yesterday. Along with those sweet, sweet words, I got a new cookbook as well. Homeboy (my husband) did his research and bought a new to me Italian book by my favorite actor, Stanley Tucci. Many of the recipes are based of my one of my favorite movies, The Big Night. I can’t wait for a quiet night when I can dig in with a glass of wine and a cozy fire.

I love living 5 minutes from the mountain. After a big breakfast of waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon, we headed up for a day of family skiing. The Mr and I took turns making runs with the kids and ducking into the trees for some fresh fluffy powder turns. Bluebird skies and knee deep powder, I don’t think the day could have been any better. The kids rocked the afternoon skiing more than they have all year. We came home and every single one of us took a well deserved nap. The evening ended with a visit with some of my husbands childhood friends that were in town visiting. The night was quiet and filled with story telling, laughter and a fair amount of homemade cookies and chocolate!

I hope you all were able to spend the day with loved ones and your day was filled with love, light and plenty of laughter. I leave you with a simple recipe that doesn’t need much explanation. My favorite ingredient butter gets a little love with some fresh garlic and chopped chives. Perfect for slathering on a roll, melting over popcorn or making a puddle in the center of your mashed potatoes. I’m not here to tell you how to use it, just how to make it! I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!

Merry belated Christmas!
