Eggnog Latte Recipe

I don’t know about all of you but I love eggnog.

I can’t wait for Thanksgiving when I buy my first quart of the season. (I will myself to NOT buy it before.)

I’ve seen so many eggnog flavored treats floating around the web the past few weeks it made me think of two things. First, it’s never occurred to me to use it in baked goods or for desserts- it’s kind of a dessert in itself, no? Second, I thought I should share with you how I drink my coffee this time of year.

Drip coffee + warmed eggnog = an almost eggnog latte.

I love the eggnog lattes from Starbucks but one, they are expensive two, after you put one or two shots of espresso in a twelve ounce cup, that’s a lot of room leftover to be filled with the creamy, delicious, highly caloric beverage and three, I don’t live all that close to Starbucks. Not that practical for me to be running out early in the morning just for a cup of joe.

Sooooooo, I make it at home. It’s simple. Far from rocket science. I simply heat about 2-3 oz of eggnog in a microwave safe mug and pour hot drip coffee over it. Yep, that’s it.

No fancy adornments here. No whipped cream, no grated nutmeg, no sleeve to keep your hand from getting burned. Just coffee and eggnog.

But it’s good.

Really good.
